Writing Assignment:
For this assignment, the students will write a Civil Letter.
In the Civil Letter, they will address it to a civic leader of choice,
such as the president and tell them what they see today that we took from the
Greeks, may that be the laws or the judicial system or anything else they find
interesting. They will tell the receiver of the letter how things were similar to ancient
Greece and how they are different. The goal of this letter is to show that the students,
after reading and learning new information have understood and digested the
differences and similarities between then and now. The students will hand write
this letter as neat as they can and the letters will be hung around the room to
be shown off.

Preview Activity:
For this activity the students will be given a sheet with several
pictures on it. The pictures will be of things that were given to us
be the Greeks, such as judicial system, roads, numbers, and arts. Next to each of the pictures they will be asked to write what it is and where is came from. The students will have to think about each one and describe them as well. They also will have to say where they have seen them around to show a current day connection to make them think and recall. In the end they will be able to see the connections between today and ancient Greece.

Innovative Reading Notes:
For this activity or note taking session, the students will be given
guided notes, where they have to fill in the blanks as we go along with the
material. To prevent kids from falling behind or filling out false information,
you should stop every so often to check that they have the correct words filled in.
In the end, they will have a full sheet or sheets of notes that will
allow them to look back and study off of. The notes should be fun and
interactive by giving each student the chance to answer each blank correctly
as you go along.

Processing Assignment:
In this assignment each student will have to create a Brochure. The brochure will be a detailed and informational piece of what you would see if you were to travel back in time to ancient Greece. Each brochure will be different from the other because they will have a personal and creative touch that is unique to each. In the end, this assignment should be fun and enjoyable to the students but also allowing them to see their work and others.
